Mr. Andrew Dominguez
Being part of the Scheh Center in the Harlandale District is very rewarding and fulfilling. I am very honored and grateful to be the Principal of a fine organization within a great organization. Growing up in the Edgewood District by JFK H.S. gives me an understanding of some of the challenges and obstacles our students may face. I attended Brentwood/Hoelscher Elementary, Holy Cross M.S. and graduated from Burbank High School in 1982. I graduated from Incarnate Word College with a Bachelors in Business Management in 1991. I began working for Luby's as an associate manager in Phar, TX. I returned to San Antonio and worked for the City of San Antonio, Community Initiatives as a Project Management Specialist until a reduction in force. I continued to work for the CoSA in the Municipal Courts Magistrate office until 1993.
I began substitute teaching in SSAISD at Burger King Academy where I was given math courses to teach while beginning the Region 20 Teacher Alternative Certification Program. In 1995 I was hired in the Edgewood District as a fifth grade teacher at Emma Frey Elementary and taught there for three years before making the transition to HISD. I taught at Columbia Heights Elementary for four years while achieving my Masters Degree in Public Administration from Texas A & M University at Kingsville in 2003. Since then I have been and administrator at Stonewall Flanders Elementary, Gilbert Elementary, Tejeda Academy and Adams Elementary where many memories and relationships were developed.
I want thank my parents who fostered my education because I feel very lucky to be here as Principal of the Scheh Center. I also want to thank my former leaders where I received all of my hands on administrative education. Those people are Ms. Marianela Gonzales, Ms. Diane Tudyk, Ms. Rosemary Cooremans, Ms. Patricia Ramirez, Ms. Rita Uresti and Ms. Elizabeth Libby. Without their guidance and support I would not be where I am today nor the person I have become.
Thank you, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or concerns.
